Urban Stories & the Politics of Life in the Global South

Ethnography at the margins of the global order: inequality, violence, survival, and ways of life.

About Me

I was born in Cartagena, Colombia, a city marked by deep social contrasts that continues to shape the way I think, write, and conduct research. For more than a decade, I have carried out long-term ethnographic work in urban peripheries, border regions, and spaces traversed by violence, inequality, and informal economies across Latin America.

My work moves between ethnography, visual storytelling, and public engagement. Through photography, documentary work, and narrative experimentation, I explore ways of bringing academic research into conversation with broader audiences while remaining attentive to the complexities of everyday life at the margins.
